- Discourse Relation Prediction: Revisiting Word Pairs with Convolutional Networks (2019 · 39 citations)
This work addresses discourse relation classification in the Penn Discourse Tree Bank (PDTB). The focus is implicit relations, where no connective such as "because" signals the link between two text spans. Earlier systems used cross-argument word pairs as discrete features, which produced very sparse feature spaces.… - Balancing Classification and Calibration Performance in Decision-Making LLMs via Calibration Aware Reinforcement Learning (2026)
LLMs used for decisions such as content moderation or clinical support need confidence scores that tell downstream systems when to fall back to a larger model or a human.
