Papers
- Language Statistics and False Belief Reasoning: Evidence from 41 Open-Weight LMs (2026 · 3 citations)
This paper addresses a methodological weakness in studies that examine how language models reason about others' minds. - When Do Large Language Models Exhibit Unsolicited Deception? (2026 · 1 citation)
Earlier studies show that LLMs deceive well when told to. Evidence that they mislead others on their own initiative has been mostly anecdotal. Taylor and Bergen address this gap with a preregistered experiment grounded in signaling theory.
