Papers
- “My Answer is C”: First-Token Probabilities Do Not Match Text Answers in Instruction-Tuned Language Models (2024 · 89 citations)
Multiple-choice benchmarks often score instruction-tuned LLMs by checking which option letter receives the highest log probability as the first generated token. - VariErr NLI: Separating Annotation Error from Human Label Variation (2024 · 51 citations)
Benchmarks for NLP tasks contain two kinds of label disagreement: genuine human label variation (HLV), where annotators reasonably choose different labels, and plain annotation errors. Earlier work treated these separately. This paper offers a procedure to distinguish them and applies it to English NLI.
