- Arabizi sentiment analysis based on transliteration and automatic corpus annotation (2018 · 35 citations)
The paper tackles sentiment classification of Arabizi, Arabic (here mostly Algerian dialect) typed in Latin letters, digits and punctuation. Arabizi spelling varies wildly, and labelled data is scarce. The authors avoid manual labelling and parallel corpora with a pipeline of four steps: - ONE: Toward ONE model, ONE algorithm, ONE corpus dedicated to sentiment analysis of Arabic/Arabizi and its dialects (2021 · 5 citations)
Arabic has at least 22 dialects plus MSA, and each can appear in Arabic script or in Latin-based Arabizi. Building a separate sentiment resource for every variety and script would mean roughly 46 resources for a single language. The authors instead propose one pipeline that yields one training corpus and one model… - Hybrid approach for transliteration of Algerian arabizi: a primary study (2018 · 1 citation)
Algerian dialect speakers often write online in Arabizi, a spontaneous romanized script that mixes Latin letters, digits and symbols.
